VeeKay signs with Juncos Hollinger Racing to lead its IndyCar team
Rinus ‘VeeKay’ van Kalmthout will have a fresh start in the NTT IndyCar Series, as the Dutchman has joined Juncos Hollinger Racing to lead its two-car team in 2026.
Following a successful year with Dale Coyne Racing, VeeKay has chosen to join forces with Juncos Hollinger Racing for the upcoming IndyCar season. JHR will provide a familiar environment for VeeKay who previously raced for the Argentine-American team in the Road to Indy development ladder for two seasons. In 2018-‘19, VeeKay and the Juncos team won no fewer than 13 races and the title in the Pro Mazda Championship, now known as USF Pro 2000, before finishing as the runner-up in the Indy Lights championship, now known as Indy NXT, the final step leading up towards the NTT IndyCar Series.
VeeKay’s signing with Juncos Hollinger Racing follows a memorable 2025 season for which he was the last driver to be confirmed but went on to deliver a stellar performance by producing no less than seven ten top-ten finishes. VeeKay’s results saw Dale Coyne Racing rise from 27th place in 2024 to a respectable 14th place in the final 2025 standings. The highlight of the season was VeeKay’s second-place finish on the streets of Toronto.
Since making his NTT IndyCar Series debut in 2020, Rinus VeeKay has competed in 97 races. This means that in the third race of the 2026 season on the streets of Arlington, Texas, VeeKay will make his 100th start in an IndyCar race. Of his 97 starts so far, VeeKay has achieved two pole positions, 33 top-ten finishes and five podium places, including one victory. Furthermore, VeeKay remains the youngest front row starter at the Indianapolis 500 in the event’s 114-year history.
“I am thrilled to announce my move to Juncos Hollinger Racing,” said an ecstatic VeeKay from the United States. “This is a team with enormous ambition and a clear strategy for the future. Our goal is to compete with the best teams in IndyCar, and I am confident that working together we can perform well and achieve success.”
“It feels like coming home,” VeeKay continued, referring to his previous engagement with Juncos Hollinger Racing. “We’ve known each other for many years. Juncos gave me an opportunity on the Road to Indy ladder, and together we enjoyed great success, achieving 13 wins and a title. I believe that Juncos Hollinger Racing is the right environment for me as a driver to take the next step forward.”
“At Juncos Hollinger Racing, we are fully focused on building a programme that we can rely on in the coming years to provide our drivers with the best possible environment,” explained team boss Dave O'Neill, outlining the team’s future ambitions. “We have big plans for the team, both on and off the track, and bringing in a driver with Rinus’ track record is a clear step in that direction.”
“Rinus’ return feels like a natural progression, given our past successes”, O'Neill continued. “Juncos Hollinger Racing is entering its fifth NTT IndyCar Series season, and Rinus has just completed his sixth full year at the highest level. We firmly believe in him, as he brings the combination of pure pace, consistency, determination and experience that we were looking for. He plays a key role in our new driver lineup.”
The 2026 NTT IndyCar Series kicks off on Sunday March 1st with the traditional race on the streets of St. Petersburg, Florida.
