VeeKay on P1 after first day of qualifying for the Indy 500

 

Rinus VeeKay has made it to the top-12 tomorrow by putting in a blistering 4-lap average speed of 233.655 MPH (376 KPH). Actually putting in the third fastest 4-lap average in Indianapolis 500 qualifying history.

 

 

After his run, Rinus praised his team Ed Carpenter Racing for giving him a great car and pointed out that his Chevy engine runs very well this year. He also acknowledged that the qualification draw provided him with good track conditions.

 

 

Tomorrow the fastest 12 drivers will have another go at the all deciding Firestone Fast 6. Stating that it could be a benefit that his team mate and team owner also in the top-12, VeeKay is confident about his chances for the ultimate starting position. Ending the press conference with the following quote:

“We can have a solid run for pole tomorrow!”
